The Team

Andy Bannister

Andy Bannister, LEED® AP

President

Andrew began his career in the construction industry 32 years ago as an apprentice in England under the tutelage of a company established in 1776. After completing the City and Guilds of London apprenticeship and passing all exams with distinction, he followed a course that included all aspects of building from fine carpentry and cabinet making to historic renovations of homes in the United Kingdom.

After moving to California in 1984, he furthered his skills and trained extensively in project management, ultimately managing large commercial projects in the Financial District of San Francisco.

In 1998 Andrew founded Earthtone Construction, Inc. and has since established a reputation in the Sonoma County community as an excellent manager and craftsman. His clients appreciate his care in understanding their concerns and guiding every project to best meet their needs. His expertise in construction management is well regarded and he has been called upon to consult on complex projects. Clients have included local schools and non-profit charities as well as businesses and community organizations.

Zac Douch

Zac Douch

Vice President

Zac brings comprehensive and exacting building management and trade experience to Earthtone Construction. He began his building career with an apprenticeship in traditional timber framing 25 years ago in the United Kingdom, becoming an accomplished carpenter while gaining knowledge across a broad spectrum of construction disciplines. Zac owned a successful construction company in the UK before becoming a licensed contractor in California 10 years ago, where he built an impressive portfolio of remodel, renovation and new building projects. His drive to be involved in and to build for community and nonprofit organizations as well as his creative instinct has enabled him to undertake many unique, beautiful and complex projects including churches, performance halls, schools and co-housing. He enjoys the challenges of applying knowledge and craftsmanship to demanding projects to achieve beautiful results.

With a strong and ethical construction management style, in-depth experience, as well as his disciplined approach, he brought his team-building, technical and practical skills to Earthtone Construction in 2005.

Gretchen Copperopolis

Gretchen Copperopolis

Office Manager

Gretchen's knack for understanding process and her creative eye for visual detail has served her well in a variety of careers as a bookkeeper, cook and graphic production artist, as well as (her favorite) being a full time mom. She appreciates the complexity of the construction process and was impressed by the care and mindfulness of Andy Bannister's approach in remodeling her kitchen. They became good friends and in 2000, she became his first clerical employee. Gretchen manages the office and generally keeps everything running efficiently. You can count on her calm manner, good humor and commitment to having fun in all your dealings with Earthtone Construction.

Hannah Scott

Hannah Scott

Assistant Project Manager

Hannah comes to us with a strong interest in all aspects of the building industry, and the environmental sensibilities of a Sebastopol native. She received her B.A. from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA with an emphasis in Interdisciplinary and Sustainable studies and a focus on Vernacular Architecture. Her research and experience centers around the conservation, regeneration and sustainability of the vernacular building heritage worldwide, and design in a vernacular context. Hannah's responsibilities involve all aspects of construction project documentation, including bid invitation, contract and subcontract preparation, submittal coordination, project communication and document close-out. She also closely assists the Project Managers with construction cost control and project tracking.

Hannah has welcomed the opportunity to build on her practical understanding of building and the relationship of 'mindful' building to vernacular building methods.

Active in the local community, he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans and Sebastopol, as well as for Rebuilding Petaluma, and currently is a Red Cross Volunteer with the Disaster Assessment Team.

Danny McCauley

Danny McCauley

Project Manager

Danny has always had a passion for building. He started his building career in 1987 as an apprentice carpenter with a custom home builder in Marin County, where he began to learn construction from foundation to finish. In 1990 he moved to New York City, where he specialized in commercial, retail and residential lofts. Danny's diverse background also includes building in Ireland and Hawaii, and he brings an open-minded approach to the many challenges that each project offers.

In 2001 Danny relocated his family back to California, where he has managed custom home building in the region where he began his career. As a member of the Earthtone team, he enjoys the opportunities to build interesting, beautiful and environmentally conscious projects.
